Katy Perry: Part of Me.

I would like to talk about Katy Perry’s recent movie. However, before I delve into my spiel, let me say that Katy Perry is, for lack of better words, fricken awesome! I’ve been a fan of hers for a few years but never bought an album. I just bought a few songs on itunes. But after seeing this movie and seeing how much work she does for her fans, I will be supporting her by purchasing her albums. $12.00 of my money is nothing compared to what she does.

Okay, now lets talk about this film of hers…

Let’s briefly discuss how Ms. Perry started out in the music industry. Her parents are ministers so it only makes sense that Katy Perry follow in their footsteps and become involved in some kind of ministry, right? Well, that’s just what she did. Katy Perry started out as a gospel singer. Some think that she was just an overnight success with her first (known) single entitled “I Kissed A Girl.” However, this is not at all true. Yes, her career did explode when her single came out but Katy had been working towards stardom since she was thirteen! She sang gospel songs, signed with several different labels and struggled just like any other up and coming artist. But she never gave up, which allowed her to reach her potential and far beyond. Fortunately enough, this movie documented all her steps, who she encountered and the struggles she crossed in order to reach her goal of being a pop star.

Now, let’s talk about the production value of her concerts, which were shown throughout the movie. I’ve been to many concerts but Katy Perry’s world tour seemed well worth the money. I personally would LOVE to go to one of her concerts simply because of the show she, along with her dancers, put on. There were countless props and a wonderfully timed choreography. And let’s not forget the foam she shot out into the crowd. I mean, who doesn’t love foam? My point exactly. In addition to her delivery, of all the songs she performed, one particular performance shown within the collage of concerts that caught my attention was “Who Am I Living For.” The lighting, vocals, and choreography was PERFECT! You could just tell that Ms. Perry and her team put every ounce of energy into pleasing her fans during a show. And that’s what I look for in a good show and in this case, a good film.

Overall, Katy Perry is wonderful and the movie was able to confirm that fact. She, unlike some artists, was not afraid to reveal her most vulnerable moments and struggles. She made it known that those who we admire and look up to are not perfect in any way, shape or form nevertheless, they try to make the best of every situation. She is an example that anything is possible with a little hard work and a lot of prayer!

Thanks for reading yet another random, opinion-filled post by me, Dani! Once again, comments, hints, and questions are all welcome! 🙂
