Haulleujah: Bath and Body Works.

For those who don’t know, Bath and Body Works is hosting their amazing semi-annual sale which means most of the store is 50% off. Yes, you read that right, 50% off.

Well, I happen to be a shopaholic, so once I received a coupon in the mail advertising the upcoming sale as well as offering me $10 off of $40, there was ABSOLUTELY no way I was missing the sale. Therefore the other day, I went into the store and made sure I received my $10 off of $40! As a matter of fact, I walked away with a bag full of home-goodies after spending $30.10…not bad right? And to prove my savings, I even attached a picture of my receipt below. Just wait until you see what I bought!

First, let’s start with the three deliciously scented soaps displayed in the background. Wild Passion Flower is possibly one of the best scented soaps I’ve smelled from Bath and Body Works in a while…and keep in mind, I’ve smelled them all because once upon a time I worked at a local store. Regularly priced, these soaps are $6.50, but due to the amazing sale, I bought all three at $3.25 a piece! I could’ve filled my shopping bag to the top with all the soap in the store at this price but that whole “too much of a good thing” quote ran across my mind like the words across a jumbtron at a ball game. Therefore, I stopped at 3.

Next in line, the oh so addicting wall flower bulbs. I wanted several because… well, just because. So, I bought two French Lavender (I live for all things lavender) and two Sundress. I don’t know how else to explain the smell of these two scents besides the word “summer.” If you don’t know anything else about Bath and Body Works know that they are top notch in the game of associating scents and seasons. Regularly priced at $6.50, I was able to purchase these bulbs at $3.25 a piece. And for future reference, if your wall flower plug-in all of a sudden stops working, DO NOT DISCARD!! While working at the store some months back, I learned that customers are able to bring in their broken plug-ins and conduct an even exchange for a new wall flower. Now, I’m not 100% sure if this policy is still in place but I plan on finding out very soon because two of my plug-ins have gone to wall flower heaven 😦

Let’s skip the obvious and go for the next item in line which is the bronze lip shimmer! I’ve always loved Bath and Body Works lip glosses, aside from the slightly sticky texture but we can’t have it all, right? Anyway, this “Jeweled Coconut Dazzle*licious High Sparkle Lip Gloss” is going to pair nicely with my signature nude lip I tend to wear when I’m feeling classically snazzy! Regular priced at $10.50, this gorgeous shimmery bronze was only $5.25…the poor girls Mac. (also if anyone knows when and where I can buy Mac’s red Maleficent lip stick, PLEASE contact me asap. That shade of red is a must in my life!)

And lastly, my favorite, Bath and Body Works’ 3 wick candles. Now for my BBW gurus you know these tiny pieces of heaven can be quite pricey, normally $22.50, which is why I only buy them when they go on sale. The usual 3 wick sale is $11 but not during the semi-annual sale! I was able to buy this French Lavender 3 Wick Candle for only $10. Yes, it’s only a dollar difference from their regular sale, but hey, dollars in savings tend to add up. I absolutely love Bath and Body Works’ 3 wick candles because they last FOREVER and give off the perfect amount of perfume at any given time; not too weak and never too strong… it’s as close to perfection as it gets. And, like previously stated, I live for all things lavender therefore I had to pick up their French Lavender candle and definitely plan on going back for more before the sale is over.

And as promised, here is a picture of my receipt. I truly only spent $30.10 on nine items, after my $10 off $40 coupon. Have you ever heard of such a thing? This is a dream come true for a shopaholic on a budget like myself 🙂

Weekend Haul!

Hello Readers,  as many of you may know, shopping is my weakness. As a result I recently went on the most random shopping adventure. Some purchases were made online and others were made at my local malls. Anyway, continue reading and enjoy the deets! (ps. If you are viewing this on a pc, I just want to apologize in advance for my enormous pictures. lol)

These are Corkys Sues Camel Burlap shoes for only$20! Unfortunately, I am one of the few that have to deal with wide feet, therefore during the first two times that I wore them, I experienced a bit of rubbing against my foot. But other than my personal problems, these shoes are VERY comfortable. I would definitely recommend these to a friend.

Next stop: Old Navy! On the left are two of Old Navy’s amazing sports bras. Old Navy’s active bras are surprisingly supportive. I have had experience with them in the past, fell in love and just had to go back for more. At the time of purchase these bras were 2 or more are $10 a piece however during usual sale they are $16.94 each. Yes, a bit pricey but totally worth it.

Now, on the left is one of my favorite outfit must haves… camis!! I am an avid layerer (did I just create a word?). I have an outrageous number of camis but I noticed that I did not have a bright yellow or royal blue so, why not add more to the collection? At the time of purchase the camis were $3.50. To my knowledge, this is the usual price. Please correct me if I’m wrong!

It just wouldn’t be a proper shopping trip without stopping at Sephora, right? On the far left is a Sephora Brow kit in the color Midnight Brown. Considering that I have no clue how to do my own brows, I thought a decent priced brow kit would be a great way to start. This kit includes a mirror, two powders, brow wax, a pair of tweeters, a brow brush and an applicator all for $19.

In the middle is a Kat Von D’s True Romance Eyeshadow Palette called Poetica. (it may appear as two different palettes in the picture, but that is because of way the pic was edited. Please pardon the confusion.) This colorful palette includes eight great colors and a black Kat Von D Autograph Eyeliner Pencil all for $36.00.

And last is a mini Marc Jacobs Lash Lift. I live for a good mascara so I cannot wait to try this out! Luckily, because I am a loyal Sephora Beauty Insider Member, this mascara was a free gift. Well, it was technically 100 beauty insider points but it was free in a roundabout way…

And lastly, it is the fave of all faves… FOREVER XXI! On the far left you can see a wonderfully sewn cardigan. This cardigan was actually purchased online at Forever21.com for $29.80. (please ignore the awkwardly posed picture of myself and all of my college things in the background… I am not a model nor is my room a studio. lol) Anyway, because the colder seasons are approaching, Forever XXI is stocking up on all of the cutest warm clothes. Everything about this cardigan is perfection. From the cut to the colors, I love it all.

Next is the plain white tee. Every girl needs a good collection of basic t-shirts in their closet and Forever XXI is the perfect place to buy these. They tend to only be $5.80, which is not bad at all! Following the white t-shirt are the cutest mid-knuckle rings ever. On my index finger is a gold safety pin with a slight rhinestone detail costing me $2.80. On my middle finger is a gold cross also with a rhinestone detail costing me $3.80. One thing I like and dislike about this ring is that is it not completely enclosed. Pros and cons, I guess. And the last ring is another gold cross covered in rhinestones…this is my favorite and it only cost me $1.80!

In the upper right are two pair of great earrings. The first pair is just a simply silver bar. I’m not one for silver jewelry but I could not walk away from these. The next pair consist of a pearl stud with a gold spike as the back. Kind of classy, kind of edgy… altogether cute. Both pair of earrings were $3.80.  And lastly are more camis! These solid scoop neck camis, along with the cardigan, were purchased at Forever21.com.  I thought gray would go great with the blue that is in the cardigan however I couldn’t decided which gray was best therefore I bought both. The dark gray is Charcoal Heather and the light is Oyster gray. Only $2.80 a piece which is awesome!

And now, a quick plug for Forever XXI, they have the best plus size section that I have seen in a while. It is nice to walk into a store which normally targets very thin people and now see clothes that are cute and made for my body. I am so used to walking in stores and seeing what I like to call “fat people floral” or the same box cut clothes but now I, along with many other plus sized beauties, have an amazing selection to chose from. It’s just great!

Welp, that concludes my weekend haul! I really hope you enjoyed it. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions please leave a comment below and I will definitely reply as soon as possible.

Thanks for reading 🙂

Stylish Sunnies!

If you know me then you know of my obsession with sunglasses of all shapes, sizes and colors. As a result of my obsession, I cannot walk into any department store without making a beeline straight towards the accessories in search of the perfect pair of glasses. Luckily for me, I’ve stumbled across a magnificent gem by the name of RetroCitySunglasses.com which not only allows me to browse through department stores knowing that I can spend my money on products other than fashionable shades, but this site allows me to purchase super cute, exclusive shades at a VERY reasonable price.

In the past I have made several purchases from RetroCitySunglasses.com and have yet to be disappointed with the shipping, timing of delivery or the actual product. So, last week I decided to take advantage of their 20% off sale and buy 5 pair at once. I didn’t intend to buy 5 pair but once I realized they were offering free shipping for orders of $40, I kind of got pulled in and couldn’t turn away.  Following are names, details, sale prices, original prices and pictures of the sunnies that I bought. Enjoy!

*Leather Bomber Aviators: Original price = $10.99 – Sale price = $8.79

Who doesn’t love aviators? Who doesn’t love leather? So why not put the two together! The bomber aviators are super cute and trimmed in a nice brown leather with a slight gold accent.

*Black June Sunglasses: Original price = $11.99 – Sale price = $9.59

These classes could definitely stand in the place my current staple black sunglasses. I also love the fact that they have a simple silver accent

*Tortoise Pegasus Sunglasses: Original price = $11.00 – Sale price = $7.99 Luckily, these were $7.99 because they were already on sale without the 20% off

I’ve never owned a pair of tortoise sunglasses so I decided to go all out and purchase the pegasus style! I loooove these!

*Diamonds: Original price = $13.99 – Sale price = $11.19

Okay, okay. I’ve had my eyes on these for a few weeks now but never got around to buying them. But, now that I have them in my possession, I’M IN LOOOOVE! I also love the fact that they are named Diamonds however they are trimmed in pearls.

*Tortoise Vintage Cat Eye Sunglasses: Original price = $10.99 – Sale price = $8.79

I don’t really have a good explanation as to why I bought these other than I’m just trying to build up my tortoise and cat eye collection, I guess…? And, at this point, I was trying to reach $40 to avoid the shipping cost.

A Cry For Help: “Chub Rub”

My name is Dani and I am not a size 2.

This is definitely my cry for help. I’m sick of losing a favorite pair of jeans to “chub rub” as it was called in a recent xojane.com post. As we all know, one result of being a plus sized beauty is that our thighs tend rub together. Therefore, I’m sure like many others, I have to begin looking for a new favorite pair of jeans almost every six to nine months, depending on the brand, because the inner thighs of the jeans decide they want to magically vanish. I’ve noticed that Lane Bryant jeans are notorious for this characteristic, but they sell the PERFECT wash for me and their jeans hug me so nicely that I just can’t stop buying them.

Anyway, would anyone have any ideas on how to repair torn jeans? I’ve thought about sewing on denim patches, however, the times I went to buy patches, I forgot to take my jeans in order to find the perfect wash match. Other than sew on patches, have you heard of any other ideas to bring your favorite jeans back to life? And, if you’re not able to revive your jeans do you cut them into shorts? Or, better yet, have you found a company that sells plus sized jeans (true to size) that do not wear away so easily?

Thanks in advance for you help, which I’m sure will help others with the same problem!

Haul is Here!

This haul consists of things purchased from my favorite store ever… FOREVER XXI!

Here are a few pictures to look at before I go into detail about what I bought. But first, a disclaimer: I am NOT a model, nor is my mother a professional photographer. With that being said, thanks mom for partaking in the photo-shoot! 🙂

Picture #1

Gold, Red, White and Blue Wayfarer Glasses, earrings: $1.80

Gold Nerd Glasses/Gold and Black Mustache, earrings: $2.80

Gold Chain with Gold, Red, White and Blue High-top Sneaker Pendent: $2.80

Hot Pink Nail Polish: $2.80

Gold/Black Mustache Cuff: $4.80

Gold Bangle Set: $4.80

Picture #2

Southwestern, Red, Cream, and Blue Maxi Dress: $27.80

Southwestern, Colorful, Chiffon, Maxi Dress: $27.80

Grey/Black Mustache Muscle Tee: $11.80

Black/Silver Lace Cross Muscle Tee: $17.80

Just thought I’d let you in on a few secrets about the pieces listed and pictured above!

The Southwestern Red, Cream and Blue Maxi Dress fits true to size however, when I first tried it on, it was a bit too big. But, be sure to tighten the straps so they are hugging you shoulders then VUALA!! It’ll fit perfectly! Now, the Colorful Southwestern Chiffon Dress is a different story. I would suggest going down a size. I’m usually a 2x but because of too much fabric around the shoulders, back and chest, I was advised to take it down a size to eliminate the baggy look that I had goin’ on. Thank the Lord for dressing room attendants because I was ready to hang it right back up on the rack, but I took their advice and decided to take it down to a 1x. I couldn’t be more in love!

Now for the tanks! Because of some random/weird obsession with mustaches that I’ve developed over the past 3 years, I HAD  to get this super cute Mustache Muscle Tee. Unfortunately, this one runs a bit smaller than the labeled size, therefore I suggest taking this one up a size. And lastly, the Black/Silver Lace Cross Muscle Tee. I fell in love with this tank as soon as I saw it online a few weeks ago. I love the silver chain detail around the lace cross! This tank does run a bit bigger than the labeled size, but don’t turn away yet. That extra room will come in handy when you want to layer the shirt with a bright color tank/cami underneath!

Anyway, hope you liked the haul! And, just a little exta treat (at least it is for me) I have a picture of an outfit I put together including the Mustache Muscle Tee. Photo credit, for this one, goes to my big bro. Thanks for reading!! 🙂

Outfitedited But, of course, I forgot to tuck the string in all all the way on my right shoulder. . . way to go Danielle :/ lol

My First “HALLELUJAH” Haul!

I’ve never done a “haul” before soooo, here it goes!

HALLELUJAH! I finally had a full day of nothing but retail therapy! My friend decided to throw a 21st birthday bash last weekend at a hotel near Polaris Shopping Center and of course a day of shopping was on our itinerary. Anyway, here is a picture and list of things that I decided to blow my gas money on. . .

1. Tribal Print Wayfarer Sunglass: Charming Charlie $12

2. Peach and Gold Button Earrings: Charlotte Ruse (2 for $10)

3. Gold Arrow Earrings: Charlotte Ruse (2 for $10)

4. Peach and Gold Bangle Set: Charlotte Ruse $6

5. Colorful Floral Print Button Earrings: Aldo (my addiction!) $8

6. DKNY Dual Roll On Perfume: Sephora $20

7. Foundation Shade Tan 40: Sephora $22

8. Knock Off Beauty Blender Make-up Sponge: Sephora $12 (also comes in yellow and pink)

And lastly, I did not purchase this but, I kept forgetting to get my birthday freebie from Sephora so they were able to give it to me 5 months later… But anyway, that is the pink box which includes mascara and nude, shimmery lip balm. Also, it’s not in the picture, but I was given a free sample of  a 3-in-1 facial cleanser by Philosophy called Purity Made Simple. In a few short words… it makes my face feel like Heaven!

All in all, I would have to say I had a pretty successful shopping day and therefore justifies me throwing up my hands and shouting HALLELUJAH! And just for the heck of it, I’ll be doing a review, in the near future, of my new foundation. This is literally only my 2nd foundation purchase and I HATED the first one (as stated in one of my previous posts) so I decided to give Sephora’s brand a try. So far, “I’m in loooooooove” *insert Pharell’s voice from Tyler the Creators IFHY*.  .  .? Anyway, keep your eyes open for a make up review coming very soon!!
Thanks bunches for reading!

Strictly Shea

After a few days of going back and forth with myself, I decided to straighten my hair. It’s been a few months since I’ve been able to carelessly run my fingers though my hair (because I have hands-in-hair syndrome like many other naturals) and I was beginning to miss that feeling. Therefore, I thought this would be the perfect time to break out the ole trusty flat iron that I’ve had for about four years now.

Anyway, time to get to the point of this post. I straightened my hair in hopes of the end result being much better than it was the last time and to my surprise, it was at least TEN TIMES BETTER! Within the past year, I’ve fallen in love with Shea Moisture products and tried a few different lines within the brand. But no other line has made my hair look and feel the way their coconut and hibiscus has! The shine and softness of my hair is “too legit to quit.” I have never been more pleased with my straight hair than this very moment. So, if you are a natrualista and looking for shine so bright that you’ll need shades, I suggest picking up Shea Moisture’s Coconut and Hibiscus line. It’s amazingly amazing…. if that makes sense? (pictures of product and my hair below)

p.s. I’ve been natural my ENTIRE life. No need for chemicals here! Also, Shea Moisture is available at Target, CVS and Walgreen stores. It usually runs between $8-$11.
